2024 - Not Again...
Geez, this is a lot of history to try and remember... good thing we all just blurt whatever's on our minds in the FB group so that I can look back and remind myself what happened.
One horrific, terrible thing did happen in 2024 that burnt itself into our nightmares... Kaelan Carlson, the god of fantasy football (as much as it pains for me to say) won a FOURTH title. By going 8-1 in his final nine games, Kaelan put down Sean Alumbaugh (who's surprised at this point? Poor guy needs a title, stat) and Connor Gibson to claim the trophy. Sean did accomplish one thing - he broke the League record for narrowest victory, defeating Ethan Maas by 32 hundredths of a point in Week 2.
One of the most entertaining moments of the draft was when Kenneth Pancake chose rookie WR Malik Nabers over QB Jalen Hurts in the early rounds. Many a jab was given for this decision - and yet, it may have turned out alright if Nabers hadn't been injured. Rookie QB pick Jayden Daniels was a hit. Still, it was not enough for Kenneth to prevent the rise of Carlson.
Meanwhile, RJ finally got a playoff win! He rode a five-game winning streak into the playoffs and defeated Jason McMichael (the rook indeed made the playoffs himself) en route to a third place finish for the year.
There were many changes to the year. First, RJ and Kenneth introduced podcast power rankings, beginning with a video feature to announce the draft order. We definitely have a future in show biz. But this dynamic duo worked up another change, introducing a proposal to reshape the Breakfast League. Under the proposal, the League would add... a Dynasty League. An Administrative Commissioner position would be added, and each League would have its own Commissioner. After approving the proposal, I ran and was elected as Administrative Commissioner. RJ Dechow was re-elected as the Redraft Commissioner, and Al Ohlinger made his return to Commissionership with the Dynasty League.
With that, members were added for a Dynasty League, and once again, the League lives.
