Yeah, so it was basically impossible to rank the teams this week so if you got a win last week you’re in the top half and if you lost you’re in the bottom half. The PF of teams ranked 2-7 in the combined standings is all within 80 points of each other. Good luck guessing who’s going to make the playoffs, you might as well randomize it at this point.
Also, this past week had to have been one of the lowest total scoring weeks ever since we went to .5 PPR. Only 3 teams even scored over 100. With only 8 weeks to go, Kaelan’s 2019 record of 2037.4 points is on pace to stand. There were only 15 fantasy weeks to score in that season. There’s 17 this season. That’s crazy!
12. CoronaVirus Crowns (2-7) PF - 818.74
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Morning Chubb 41.0 - 110.36
You hate to see a goose egg at any position in your fantasy lineup, but when it’s at your quarterback spot, that’s even harder to stomach. And there’s no way around it - 41 points is an ugly score and is good for a spot on the all time lowest weekly score list, tied for 7th place. It’s also the second lowest weekly score since we went to .5 PPR. Results like those land you in 12th place on the PR and it’s going to take a lot of work to turn this team around to try to slowly climb in the standings.
11. Waddlin Tua MAHOMIES (2-7) PF - 813.16
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Team Suspension 86.14 - 137.04
Mahomes and the Chiefs are just not as good as they were the last two years. Defenses have seemed to figure them out somewhat, and there’s no bigger impact for fantasy purposes than on Patrick Mahomes, much to Aaron’s detriment. Starting Josh Gordon though? Seriously? This isn’t 2013. There’s a million other WR’s on the waiver wire that would at least give you a shot at points. This is the other of the clearly worst 2 teams in the league.
10. That’s Football 🏈 (4-5) PF - 942.88
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Conner Party 69.0 - 78.38
I don’t really wanna talk about it.
9. FloridaState SeminalVesicles (4-5) PF - 905.88
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Cassius Darsh 44.98 - 97.32
44.98 points - gross, but at least it’s not top 10 worst all time. The roster’s not bad but Hill has been extremely boom or bust this year even more so. That’s a highlight of the inconsistency of this team and therefore the 4-5 record. All wins were scored with a total over 110 and all losses scored with 100 or less. Unfortunately, this is the clear hardest division, so the final 3 games will be difficult. I’m not saying there’s not a chance for playoffs, but I just don’t like it as much as the teams above. This week is really a must win.
8. Crazy Train (5-4) PF - 1084.94
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Can You Diggs It? 94.38 - 99.08
I’m comfortable saying that every team listed rank 8 and above on this PR still has a shot at winning the league. I put the bottom 4 down and then spent like 15 minutes trying to order the top 8. Crazy Train ended up here for two reasons. First, I’m not entirely sold on the roster. (I hear you say, “Al, your read on plyers sucks this year.” You know what? Fair.) And second, 3 of the 5 wins are against the bottom 4 of this PR. Luckily for Sean though, he’ll get another crack each at Ethan and Aaron, and they’re the 2 clear worst teams. So despite my wavering faith in this team, I think they have the best shot at a wild card out of anyone if they don’t with their division. The next 3 weeks will be tough though.
7. Morning Chubb (5-4) PF - 1047.44
Last Week’s Result: Win vs CoronaVirus Crowns 110.36 - 41.0
At 5-4, this Chubb is just at half strength right now. And the namesake of the team is out in COVID protocol. That’s just unfortunate luck right there, especially in a week facing a red hot team in Team KOO. Can this team finish first in the division? Absolutely. Could they finish last? I don’t see why not. The Waffle division is wide open IMO. I have no read on this team right now so middle of the pack it is. By the way, I said all team with a win last week would be top half. This is the one exception because…
6. Premarital Fournettecation (4-5) PF - 1092.32
Last Week’s Result: Loss vs Koo Koo Ka Choo 96.66 - 138.44
…this roster is way to stacked to justify ranking outside the top half. Some savvy trades from Dan have garnered him an amazing collection of players that nearly everyone would take in a heartbeat. And somehow, some way, a losing record????????? IDK man the NFL is so weird this year. Look, Dan is 6th now but if you wanted to put him 1st in this PR based on potential, you’ve got an argument there. I’m pumping the brakes until PMF actually starts winning some games, but don’t be surprised when they do.
5. Team Suspension (4-5) PF - 1021.94
Last Week’s Result: Win vs Waddlin Tua MAHOMIES 137.04 - 86.14
Here’s a little secret about fantasy - D/ST’s are players too. Usually, there’s 1 or 2 a year that are set and forget, and will produce like a mid to low end WR1 or RB1, and they are extremely valuable. Now, predicting them is basically impossible, but if you get lucky enough to pick the correct one, they can absolutely win you some matchups. The Bills are that D/ST this year. (Have you seen the Bills’ schedule?) Despite the losing record, Kaelan’s 137 in a week in which only 3 teams scored over 100 points earns him a top 6 position for now. There’s still lots of work to do given the record and the division going forward.
4. Cassius Darsh (6-3) PF - 1030.92
Last Week’s Result: 97.32 - 44.98
Tom Brady has been the MVP of Daren’s team this year as the number one fantasy QB at 44 years old. Who said you need rushing yards to be a star fantasy QB? Eat your heart out, Lamar and Kyler. Unfortunately, we learned that Bobby Trees is out for the season with an ACL, which is a hit. We will see how CD absorbs that loss. The point total has been down the past couple of weeks, but at 6-3 and in first place in the Waffle division, Daren has earned the number 4 spot this week and would be in if the playoff started today.
3. Can You Diggs It? (6-3) PF - 1014.92
Last Week’s Result: Win vs Crazy Train 99.08 - 94.38
It makes me want to gag, ranking Kenny this high, but here we are. Wentz was great last week on Thursday (albeit against the Jets). I’d like to see him do it against better competition, since I think he’s not a good QB, but unfortunately, we won’t get to see that this week since the Colts play the Jags now. Anyway, good record, good players, #3 PR rank, etc., etc., etc., yadda yadda yadda OK moving on.
2. Koo Koo Ka Choo (5-4) PF - 1021.4
Last Week’s Result: Win vs Premarital Fournettication 138.44 - 96.66
So remember how I had this team 2nd in the Week 0 PR, and then 2 weeks later, I was like, “What was I thinking ?!” Well, Ihave that same sentiment again, because now this team is looking like the one I thought it could be at the start of the year. Taylor went off, Harris is a stud, even as a rookie, and Mooney has quickly become Fields’ favorite target. Add in Lamar at QB and you’ve got a dangerous roster. Connor is still recovering from a slow start, and despite the praise and the league high score last week, I’m not quite ready to pull the trigger given he’s two games behind #1 in the win column.
1. Connor Party (7-2) PF - 1120.28
Last Week’s Result: Win vs That’s Football 78.38 - 69.0
Jared’s team was absolutely rolling until recently, when it’s been decimated by inrujies. Claypool and CEH are hurt, but no injury has been bigger new this year than Derrick Henry’s. Despite missing last week, he’s still the #1 fantasy RB. And despite him being out, Connor Party still got the win last week. CP still has the #1 PF as well. Only time will tell if Jared can make some moves and plug the now gaping holes in this roster, but for now, if he keeps winning, no one below him has earned the #1 spot. Yet.
Next Week’s Preview:
Game of the Week
Kenny is favored at the moment, but Jared tends to set his lineups fashionably late. This looks like it could be a close one if Jared remembers to log on this morning!
#2 Koo Koo Ka Choo is immensely fun to say out loud; you should try it. Connor is looking to have some fun despite a slow start from Lamar.
All teams vying for a playoff spot, they really need to beat the 2-7 record teams. There’s an opportunity this week for Daren. Aaron needs to win out to finish at .500. I don’t see that happening.
Same as above, but even more important for Kaelan, given the worse record and tougher division.
I want to call this one a tossup given the records but Dan’s projected total each week just looks like he’s cheating - even with Kamara out.
These teams scored a COMBINED 114 points last week. Avert your eyes children, this one could be ugly.
