The trade deadline approaches. By the next time these rankings are published, it will have passed. Make sure to get them in while you still can!
1. Avant Gardeyns (6-1, 70 pts, 4 first place votes) +0
With 4 first place votes (including his own) and 2 second place votes, Alex is the man to beat in the eyes of the Breakfast League. And I don’t disagree. With 6 wins in a row including versus 3 of the other top 5, he could even win out. Considering that the Gardeyns have 2 games left against the bottom two teams in the league, and the best regular season record last year was 7-4, this team is nearly a lock to make the playoffs should they take care of business.
2. (tie) Children of Thanos (6-1, 63 pts, 2 first place votes) +0
Our first tie of the power rankings comes in at second, but I’m giving the nod to Children of Thanos based on the two first place votes (one was his own). And I’m actually kind of pissed at Brandon. I pick up Nick Chubb for two weeks and then drop him as, ya know, he’s just a backup. Well then I hear the news that Hyde was traded and I think, “Well damn I better hurry and pick up Chubb.” But Brandon beat me to him by 20. Freaking. Minutes. And I’m stuck with Duke Johnson. Like this team needed any more breaks lol.
2. (tie) Frost Advisory (6-1, 63 pts) +1
You should have voted for yourself RJ, you could have been second here. But it doesn’t really matter in the end. All that matters is winning 6 in a row and looking for your 7th. Unfortunately, you’re going down this week. Tough luck having your two best players out on bye at the same time, but that’s fantasy. For what it’s worth, I put this team second and nearly put them first.
4. Crazy Train (5-2, 52 pts) +1
Sean voted himself second, singlehandedly propelling him up the rankings. Here’s some commentary he provided:
“I know I'm being a homer here, but hear me out. My 2 losses are two 2 of the top 3 teams in the actual standings, on some of their best days. I have been extremely consistent, with only one game scoring below 110. Outside of TE, my roster has no real weaknesses, and I have the highest PA out of everyone other than the bottom 2 teams. So for now, I'ma put myself here.”
5. (tie) Party Like It’s 1999 (5-2, 47 pts) +1
The second tie of the standings, I’m giving myself the nod here based on overall record. Also, I just had my best ever week again, topped the scoring for the second time, and most of ya’ll voted me 6th. My team’s feeling a little #disrespekted here. I’m catching up on PF and I’m confident I can make the playoffs. Watch out.
5. (tie) I’m Bringing Rexy Back (4-3, 47 pts) -2
Sometimes, it’s just not your year. Team Rexy has been going off, but when it counts, Kenny hasn’t been able to bring home the pancakes. His opponent only put up 113, and in all but two weeks, that’s an easy win for Team Rexy. But instead, a season low happened. It’s tough when the touchdowns don’t come. Still two games against top teams means Rexy can knock them out while helping himself, so don’t count this team out yet for the playoffs, but it won’t be easy.
7. Attack of the Mahomes (3-4, 34 pts) +1
Aaron’s PF has been inflated by a couple of outstanding weeks, but this team really does go as the Chiefs go. It certainly helps when your favorite team that you’re homering for is top 3 in the league. Team Mahomes has no good tiebreaker wins at the moment, but if they were to win out, they would pick up a couple. Yes, I do think there’s still a shot to make it if they win out. And if they do, it’ll be well earned.
8. Just Call Burton (3-4, 32 pts) -1
This is the final team with a shot at the playoffs. 7 wins will almost certainly be required, and that means a similar situation for Jared here as Aaron. Win out, and hope for the best. Bell coming back certainly wouldn’t hurt the chances.
9. Team Suspension (2-5, 24 pts) +0
One of two teams to be unanimously be voted to a position, Team Suspension comes in at 9th place. Kaelen is having a mediocre year after his championship season, but like all teams at the bottom, he can still shake up the playoff picture with some upsets. A 6-5 team made the playoffs last year, but it would take a miracle to bring it back from 2-5. #SoYou’reSayinThere’sAChance
10. The Rampaging Koala Bears (1-6, 18 pts) +0
The Koala Bears were also unanimously voted to the 10th place. Only the win against Avant Gardeyns in Week 1 is keeping him here, which in retrospect, is the biggest upset of the season. We just didn’t know it at the time. The good news is this team has yet to play the bottom two in the standings yet. The bad news is they might also lose to them.
11. (tie) Donald Trump’s Hair (1-6, 9 pts) +0
C’mon man, at least set your lineup! I know Ethan has struggled with that in his good years, so I don’t know that I expected differently this year. But oof, was that ugly. Really though, at least give it a shot so everyone has a fair shot at a loss. You never know what kind of upsets could happen.
11. (tie) Chronic Masterdeflater (0-7, 9 pts) +1
This is the last tie of the standings, and to be honest, I’m kind of disappointed Dan lost the tiebreak on record, because at least he’s still setting his lineup. Injuries have decimated this team and it just keeps getting worse every week. But the Masterdeflaters are still in there fighting! And hey, your team moved up a spot in the power rankings this week, so there’s that going for ya’.
Next week’s preview
This is a huge week to who will make the playoffs, as all of the top 6 play each other. The three winners, especially if they come from the one loss group will be sitting pretty. Either way, some key tiebreakers are there for the taking.
Game of the Week:
Is Sean’s team as good as he thinks? We’ll find out here. Alex probably clinches a playoff spot with a win.
Others:
Kenny has a good team, but he needs this one badly. Otherwise, he might not feel so good and his record will be perfectly balanced.
Two #2 vs. #5 games, lol. I got lucky and caught RJ with both Gordon and Julio on bye. Let’s see if I can take advantage.
A must win to keep Aaron’s playoff hopes alive.
A must win to keep Jared’s playoff hopes alive.
Only pride on the line here.
