WEEK 8 POWER RANKINGS

No intro - all analysis! Your top five have been ranked by poll. This week, enjoy my preview into bubble weekend with each pick.

12. Sherlock Jones / 1-6 (0-2) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS

So it's been a while since I talked about my own team in a PR, and a lot of the people doing PR's since my last called me out on putting my team in, well, not last. The thing is, ever since my loss right before that stretch, I agreed with them. I'm in a really miserable spot. Picks 1, 2, 5 and 9 are all out with injury (3 of those are RB's, and 2 of those are on IR). That'll do it - and combined with ill-advised starting lineups built on risk-taking... it's been a bad season. I have NEVER started this badly in the Breakfast League.

So, what would it take for me to get into the playoffs? Well, not to sound like "SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE," but there are 6 games left for me to make up three wins on Daren and two on Kaelan. Let's remember that I play both one more time. A tie between Sherlock Jones and Team Suspension for the Division title would come down to PF, which I could catch up to him on. However, a tie with Daren Lincourt in record would most likely make him the Division Champion.

The other route is, of course, getting an at-large bid. Currently, I am three games behind that pace too. So, either way, for Sherlock Jones to get into the playoffs, I have to make up four games on the field ahead of me - in six weeks. May as well kiss that goodbye.

11. Go Bark Yourself / 2-5 (1-1) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS

Of course, when your first round draft pick goes out with an ACL tear, you're not coming back. That's why RJ's lineup for Week 8 currently shows Latavius Murray (RB38) and only one WR in the top 45 WR's this season. The good news is, Mahomes is still Mahomes. But RJ's worst record all-time in the regular season is 7-6, and he is about to break that floor.

RJ does have one game up on #12 in the ranking, but he is still 3 games back of his division leader. This puts him two games behind the teams competing for the last at-large spot in the playoffs. This isn't impossible to get, considering that RJ's schedule gives him opportunities to take out the teams ahead of him.

For Go Bark Yourself to get into the playoffs, he needs to make up two games on the field ahead of him - most likely needing to defeat Wave To The Kids, Cows of Colorado and Conner Party on the way to an at-large spot.

10. IIIIIIIITS TUA TIME / 3-4 (1-1) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS

When you look at Aaron Green's team, you see a little bit of injury, an average points-per-week of 92.19 for his current lineup, but no one ranked worse than 51st at their position (bench included). This team still has a good chance to make a run at an at-large bid, which would be Aaron's first playoff bid since 2015.

Aaron, you are only one game back of the crowd of teams vying for an at-large bid. Don't give up. For IIIIIIIIIIITS TUA TIME to get into the playoffs, he needs to make up one or two games on the field ahead of him, and improve his chances at tiebreaking. He is already projected to beat Wave To The Kids! this week, which would be a great start.

9. Crazy Train / 3-4 (0-2) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS

Sean goes ninth instead of eighth because he has two division losses. That hurts. But, like the team behind him, Sean is just a good one or two games down from an at-large spot. With four team members in the top five at their respective positions, there's a serious chance here. In the three weeks after this one, Sean gets to face several teams running for these same spots. These are absolutely vital for him to win. Plus, he is only two games back on his division's leader - he may be the first on the list that still has a chance to take an auto bid (even though Aaron Green has the same record in that division, he faces a steeper climb with a lack of talent and a less favorable schedule).

For Crazy Train to get into the playoffs, Sean needs to make up one or two games on the field ahead of him, and win two of the three games between Weeks 9 and 11; OR, gain two games on Brandon Gaede and defeat him in the closing weeks of the season.

8. Team Suspension / 3-4 (1-1) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS

With five of his players in their respective top tens, Kaelan still has a chance for an at-large bid. But even more likely? An auto-bid. Kaelan is one game back in the Bacon Division, and in my opinion, Daren Lincourt is a falling star. I'll get into that a little bit later. Why could Kaelan do it? Well, for one, he is the most successful owner in the League's history.

For Team Suspension to get into the playoffs, Kaelan needs to beat Big Ben's Big Balls and gain one more game on Daren Lincourt; OR, gain one or two more games on the field ahead of him.

7. Conner Party / 3-4 (1-1) / CURRENTLY OUT OF PLAYOFFS / 1 Point, Week 8 Poll

For the record, Conner Party is currently the 7 seed in the playoffs. This makes him one game back of an at-large bid to the playoffs. Considering that Jared's best season in League history is 4 wins... that's pretty good news!

That being said, his path to the postseason will not (likely) include a division title. Two games behind Ethan Maas, there doesn't look to be an opening that way. But this week, 8 of Jared's 9 starters are in their respective top 16's at their position. Impressive.

For Conner Party to get into the playoffs, Jared needs to gain one or two wins on the field ahead of him.

6. Wave To The Kids! / 4-3 (1-1) / CURRENTLY THE 6 SEED / 3 Points, Week 8 Poll

He's in, but it's tight. Al is one game back in the Waffle Division, and he is riding a three-win streak. I should note one very important thing before I move on: as approved in the original reformation plan last December, the playoffs will be seeded REGARDLESS of division champions. This means that, while all teams labeled as seeded in the playoffs here are certainly in the playoffs, these teams may not actually be seeded like they are labeled today, if the season ended today.

Al has four players on his team that are in their respective positions' top 6, but his bench does not look as positive. An injury to one of his top performers in, say, this week, may sink his chances which are right on the bubble for now. For Wave To The Kids! to get into the playoffs, Al must not lose a starter to injury over the next two weeks, and he must keep his position in the field.

5. #4 Big Ben's Big Balls / 4-3 (2-0) / CURRENTLY THE 4 SEED / 7 Points, Week 8 Poll

Sorry Daren, but I think you're a falling star. You had a great start, but your roster is uneven in talent. After your three-win streak through weeks 2-4, you have failed to line up consecutive wins. You face the #1 team in the League this week, who has legendary talent right now. Kaelan is nipping at your division heels.

For Big Ben's Big Balls to get into the playoffs, Daren must win four of his remaining six games; OR, win three of his remaining six games, with one of those being against Kaelan Carlson.

4. #5 Cows of Colorado / 4-3 (1-1) / CURRENTLY THE 5 SEED / 7 Points, Week 8 Poll

I'm running out of steam at this point in the rankings, but I do see that you're only one game back in your division. The leader? #1 Ethan Maas. Well done. I don't think you'll catch him... but I do like your chances of an at-large bid. And you face the two weakest teams in the League in weeks 8 and 9.

For Cows of Colorado to get into the playoffs, Alex must keep steady by winning his games he is favored in (the next two), plus two more.

3. #2 Two Girls, One Kupp / 5-2 (2-0) / CURRENTLY THE 2 SEED / 11 Points, Week 8 Poll

I'm out of words. Don't make me talk anymore. Sure, I could mention that ESPN thought you would finish 9th but now says 4th, or how Cooper Kupp WAS the #1 WR in LA instead of Woods, etc... but I'll just finish with you lead your division by two games, and the League feels confident in you.

For Two Girls, One Kupp to get into the playoffs, Brandon must only go .500 in his remaining games.

2. #3 Monica Loves Clinton-Dix / 5-2 (1-1) / CURRENTLY THE 3 SEED / 13 Points, Week 8 Poll (1 First-Place Vote)

Congrats on the first-place vote! But look out, an at-large bid is nipping at your heels in your division.

For Monica Loves Clinton-Dix to get into the playoffs, Dan must only go .500 in his remaining games.

1. #1 CoronaVirus Crowns / 5-2 (1-1) / CURRENTLY THE 1 SEED / 18 Points, Week 8 Poll (3 First-Place Votes)

Let's talk about this menace of a team. Average points per week of his starting lineup? 133.87. Number of players in their respective positions' top ten? Eight. IR? Empty. I think Ethan is going to finish strong, but as close as the standings are currently, he still has to get things done.

For Coronavirus Crowns to get into the playoffs, Ethan must only go .500 in his remaining games.
