Week 9 Power Rankings

With 9 weeks in the books, I think we can safely begin knock out a few teams from the playoffs – let’s go!

OUT OF IT

12. Love and Flowers (2-7) Last Week: 12

Ugh – I will never draft two Chicago Bears and one Atlanta Falcon again. Arthur Smith’s use of Bijan in the game is criminal and he should be fired into the heart of the sun. Some of my trades have worked out this year (CeeDee Lamb) and others have not (why did I give up CJ Stroud???). At this point, I’m playing for pride… of which I don’t have much of right now. This upcoming week presents my best chance to get out of the basement of the league.

11. From The Logo! (2-7) Last Week: 11

This has been the disaster of all disasters for Al this year. Another year with no playoffs is going to irk him greatly. At least he got rid of Brian Ferentz! His team is obviously a shell of what he drafted – Zeke is his RB2 right now! This week presents Al with his most winnable game left and whoever wins will get the honor of the 11 seed in the playoffs.

THERE’S A PULSE

10. Koo Koo Ka Choo (4-5) Last Week: 10

All of the next 4 teams are pretty close to one another, so I went off of who had scored the fewest points as that is a major tiebreaker. However, Koo Koo Ka Choo’s team seems to be hitting its stride right now. Burrow seems to be fully healthy and Conner is expected to be back this week. Hopefully Diggs’ back injury is minor and this team could make a push. Playing in the toughest division in the league doesn’t help though.

9. Old Yellers (4-5) Last Week: 9

I have to respect Lamar after he torched my Lions a few weeks back. Derrick Henry is hitting his stride right now and the supporting case of characters are doing enough to keep Dan in the hunt. He needs to be 6-5 entering division play and he’ll be right in the mix for a wildcard.

8. Crazy Train (4-5) Last Week: 8

Notice a trend here? I’m literally just copying and pasting Dan’s rankings from last week – he had it right so no need to change it so far! I love the skill players on this team. QB, not so much. I don’t think Watson has fully hit his stride yet in Green Bay so once he does, his WRs are scary good with a lot of potential. He is also the only team in the league that can start a TE in the Flex spot and get away with it. Unconventional approach but if that is what it’ll take to get him into the playoffs, Sean will happily oblige.

7. San Diego State Fightin Araizas (5-4) Last Week: 7

Dan has been able to keep winning even though he hasn’t changed his lineup since the first week of the season. Impressive luck for sure. However, I really don’t think he’ll win another game this year. But the fact he’s won more games than Al and I have won combined is definitely something. We’ll all just waiting for the clock to strike midnight and for the fairytale to end.

PLAYOFF ONE AND DONES

6. Cousins had a Kittle Lamb (4-5) Last Week: 3

Of the three players listed in your team name, only one is still playing football for your team – and Kittle has been very erratic this year. There’s a lot of good players on bye this week for Aaron so already an uphill climb against Kaelan becomes an almost vertical ascent without any climbing gear. A loss doesn’t eliminate him from playoff contention but a win would really cement him in this 6 spot.

5. It’s a Love Story Kelce Just Say (5-4) Last Week: 5

Chiefs are on bye this week… and that Chiefs stack of Mahomes and Kelce just shows how little around them there is on this team. No depth at all. Solid WRs with Lockett, Johnson, and McLaurin but all of them have QB issues and Addison just lost his for the season. This has the feeling of a playoff team that loses big in the 1st round. Calling it right now.

4. Left Handed Corn Dogz (5-4) Last Week: 6

Injuries have really sapped the potential of this team. Jefferson is still out and now whenever he does come back, he’ll be catching passes from Joshua Dobbs. Not an ideal situation at all. At least David Montgomery should be back this week, but the Lions could employ a RB committee going forward which would limit his upside. I think he’ll scratch out 3 more wins and a playoff spot, but it’s going to be tight.

CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDERS

3. Saqoun Deez Nuts (6-3) Last Week: 2

Big, big, big game this week. Winner will be in prime position for a bye. Right now, I have to rank Ethan’s team slightly behind Marie’s squad as his WRs are notch below hers. Still, you have to give him credit for taking an autodrafted team this far. Playing in the easiest division in the league means that 10 wins is still possible for Ethan which normally guarantees a bye. Small piece of advice for Ethan here as he enters the final stretch – drop Richardson as he won’t play anymore games this season and find yourself a decent backup. Never know when you might need one.

2. Iowa City Mo (6-3) Last Week: 4

Big time win against Aaron moves you up this week. This team is looking strong heading back into the divisional play in a few weeks. Mattison appears to have found his footing and now has the backfield all to himself with Akers suffering a torn Achilles. Allen has been on fire the last few weeks and if he continues at this pace, watch out. This week is going to be the most important game yet, is Marie up to the task?

1. Team Suspension (7-2) Last Week: 1

You know you have a good team when Hurts is on a bye and your team is still projected to score almost 110 points. Sigh, I wish I had that luxury. Kaelan has the best group of RBs in this league and that’s where the strength of his team lies. Walker was thought by everyone to be a potential bust this season, but he has proven all the doubters wrong with a strong sophomore season. Kaelan could still look at making a move for a WR before the trade deadline but his team is well positioned anyway to once again make a deep run into the playoffs in pursuit of yet another title (Kenny look away).

Game of the Week: #2 Iowa City Mo vs. #3 Saqoun Deez Nuts – whoever wins earns the valuable tiebreaker over the other for a bye. Now speaking from experience, a bye doesn’t help you win it all, but it does put you one step closer. Biggest game of the year thus far. Give me Marie by 4.

#1 Team Suspension vs. #6 Cousins had a Kittle Lamb – Can Aaron get the upset here? It would greatly improve his playoff chances if he can manage that. Otherwise, he’ll have to go 3-1 at a minimum to have a shot at the playoffs. Aaron thrives on chaos and gets the upset – Aaron by 3.

#4 Left Handed Corn Dogz vs. #9 Old Yellers – Projections are not kind to Alex so far. He’ll need to prove those wrong in order to prevent an upset to Dan, who is fighting for his playoff survival. Dan with a 9 point win.

#5 It’s a Love Story Kelce Just Say vs. #8 Crazy Train – DID YOU FREAKING SEE TAYLOR SWIFT RUN UP TO TRAVIS KELCE AND MAKE OUT WITH HIM IN FRONT OF ALL OF HER FANS!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?! Crazy Train by infinity.

#7 San Diego State Fightin Araizas vs. #10 Koo Koo Ka Choo – Dan’s miracle run sputters out here and Connor runs him over on the tracks. Connor by 25.

Toilet Bowl Game of the Week: #11 From the Logo! vs. #12 Love and Flowers – Two teams destined to meet twice in the playoffs. Whoever wins 2/3 will secure the #11 position in the league. From the Logo! by 15 because my teams sucks ass.

Good luck this week and go Lions!!!
