Greetings from your Commissioner!
For a spot of context: last Rules Committee Meeting, we voted to move the Rules Committee Meeting to a POST-SEASON meeting instead of a pre-draft meeting. By statute, this has to be two weeks after the end of the season - no later. As a result, we are already preparing for a new round of Constitutional proposals, and of course a new Commissioner race!
I have two announcements. The first is pretty simple: our 2021 Rules Committee Meeting will be on JANUARY 9TH, 2021, AT 8 PM CENTRAL TIME (9 PM ET, 7 PM MT, 6 PM PT). This will be by video chat on the Facebook page.
The second is a little more involved: I will not be running for Commissioner in 2021. Instead, I am endorsing Al Ohlinger, and I will be his running mate.
I've done a lot of cool stuff so far in my 23 years, but this League is honestly in my top three. It's really cool to see a tight-knit group of friends stay together for so long. It has been a pleasure to found this League, craft its Constitution, and lead it through reforms.
That being said, next January, I start a new job - I will be State Senator Rita Sanders' Legislative Aide in the Nebraska Legislature. This is a big promotion for me, and it will take a little more of a time commitment. Additionally, I will be working a campaign job on the side. Combined with my new wife, this is a lot to juggle and get right. This is why I'm backing down from the Commissioner role for now.
This is not to say I'll never run again! I reserve the right to run later if need be. This also does NOT mean I'm leaving the League - I will only leave this League one postseason after I die. But this move will allow me to focus on personal and professional goals that are very important to me.
Let me tell you about who I'm endorsing: I'm continually amazed by Al's organizational and analytical skills. He is great at Power Rankings (I'm not so prompt), and his Bubble Tracker makes bubble week so much more fun. He has great ideas, and I know that the League will be in great hands with Al as the Commish. I will be his running mate to help collect dues, be sort of a parliamentarian, and help maintain the website and the all-time stats among other things.
It has been an honor to serve as your Commissioner, and I will continue to do so in my fullest capacity until the Rules Committee meets. Until then - vote Ohlinger/Pancake! I look forward to seeing who our opposition will be.
